Natanya Silverman
6th & 7th grade English Literature Teacher

Natanya Silverman began teaching at OHDS in 2005, and is the 2nd Grade General Studies teacher and the 6th and 7th Grade Language Arts teacher. As a general studies teacher, a previous director of an OHDS play, Peter Pan, and as a member of the OHDS community, Natanya loves immersing herself in the school's supportive and spirited culture. Before joining the OHDS team, Natanya taught in East Palo Alto for 3 years; first as a Middle School English teacher and then teaching 3rd Grade. Natanya holds a BA in English Literature from the University of Maryland and earned her teaching certification at Sierra Nevada College in Lake Tahoe. Currently, Natanya returns to Sierra Nevada College to earn her Masters in the Art of Teaching. A snowboarder, actress, writer, and singer, Natanya loves to incorporate her creativity, passion, and energy into her instruction. Raised by a librarian and a rabbi, Natanya grew into an educator. Her experiences as a director's apprentice in a children's theater group, as her youth group president, and as a sister of three contributed to her developing strong communication skills; a trait she is thankful to have as she continues on her path as an educator.
