Judy Massarano
3rd and 4th Grade, Judaic Studies

Beginning OHDS in 1996, Judy Massarano teaches Judaic Studies to Grades 3 and 4.  She has taught 2nd through 8th grades at the school, after working in K-12 Special Education with the visually impaired community in Los Angeles for a number of years.  She began her teaching career in college, starting at her own high school in the Hebrew language department. Judy received a teaching certificate from Jerusalem College for Women, earned her B.A. from Stern College in Literature, and received an M.A. from California State University in Special Education, earning various service credentials there, as well.  She enjoys adventures of all kinds, music, literature, cooking, gardening, hiking, and travel.  Her favorite place to be is Israel, second only to Berkeley, where she makes her home with her husband, their two sons and their dog. Judy also works with bar and bat mitzvah students at local synagogues. Judy loves the diversity of each child, which is honored and embraced at OHDS.  She believes in facilitating positive Jewish experiences created by her students!
