Jill Blakemore
5th Grade, General Studies
and 6th Grade, Math

Beginning OHDS in 2000, Jill Blakemore is the 5th grade general studies teacher.  She also teaches 6th grade math and has taught Social Studies in the middle school in the past. Jill received her BA in History and Religious Studies from UC Santa Barbara. In her 30 years of teaching, Jill has taught at the high school, middle school and elementary level. Before coming to OHDS, Jill taught 6th grade for sixteen years at Immaculate Heart of Mary Elementary School, a Catholic school on the Peninsula, well respected for its academic excellence. Her classes are known for their strong emphasis on math and science, and her students know that she will ensure that they really understand the material before going on to the next topic or unit. In 2006, Jill was selected by her peers to receive the OHDS Excellence in Teaching award.  At that time, she expressed her appreciation to the parent body and the administration at Oakland Hebrew Day School for providing such a positive environment in which to work.
