Laurie Bellet
Art Specialist

In Jewish education circles, Laurie Bellet is described as a "teacher's teacher."  Laurie joined the OHDS faculty in 2005, after having been the Art Specialist to pre-schoolers at the Contra Costa J.C.C. and to English Language Development students at Nimitz Elementary School in Cupertino.  Laurie is a popular artist-in-residence on two continents and consults with school, community and museum programs nationwide.  The creator of five books, Laurie is a staff columnist for Torah Aura Productions' Educator Newsletter. Laurie is the Chairperson of the Art Network for the Coalition for the Advancement of Jewish Education (CAJE) and is part of the programming team for their annual international conference. As part of the dedication of the new CAJE Manhattan, offices, a painting by Laurie was hung in its conference center.  When not at OHDS, Laurie volunteers as the guest Art Specialist for the Mount Diablo School District in a program serving young adults with multiple disabilities. Laurie and her husband make their home in Walnut Creek where they have raised three dogs, three cats and three children.
